Furiously, Jinx’s mind clashed with her opponents’. She never wanted to witness such desolation again. The Gorgano were everywhere. More Zargonnii leapt into the fray, appearing with more Castian warriors out of thin air. Jinx only had to keep the Gorgano occupied long enough for a Castian to kill them. She faltered as she grew exhausted. Her head was in agony, still she fought hard. When she was grabbed from behind, she screamed until the warrior tucked her into his shield. It was Roam. She had been concentrating so hard she never felt him coming.

“What are you doing here?” Jinx demanded.

“What the hell were you doing out there?”

  “Kicking ass.”

  “Well your ass is mine.”

Tirelessly, Roam fought alongside Taz. The two warriors remained back to back. They sliced into armor exposing the rogue Tonans for the Zargonnii to crush. As the armor was ripped down the middle, a huge Zargonnii hand slammed into a rogue Tonan chest to yank his heart out. Blood coated the floor making it slippery. It soon became apparent the Gorgano and rogue Tonans were falling faster and fewer were rising. Everywhere Jinx looked, bodies littered the ground.

The battle was over, the enemy was retreating. Jinx pressed her lips to Roam’s neck; it was the only movement she was able to make. After making certain the area was free from danger, Roam let his shield drop. Jinx slid down the length of his body until her feet felt the floor. She gagged when a warm pool of blood oozed between her toes. A dead Tonan lay a foot away.

“I’m going to gather the family together,” Taz said and sprinted off, still armored.

“I thank you for your help,” Roam said to the tall Zargonnii.

Jinx gazed at the furry-chested beast. He somehow appeared smaller than before. His teeth didn’t seem nearly as huge. The Zargonnii was close to seven feet, tall to say the least, but he didn’t look as big as before. On his belly was a bald patch with wrinkles. It suited him, looking like a ten pack.

“A Zargonnii grows in battle,” the being explained, no doubt seeing her confusion. “I’m Finn.”

“I’m Jinx and this is my mate, Roam.”

“Roam? Sounds familiar.” The Zargonnii stood pondering then began to laugh. “The same Roam who stole my half-brother’s mate Zuri?”

“You stole someone’s mate?” Jinx demanded.

“I thought I was saving her,” Roam replied. His face turned a brilliant shade of red.

“You’re lucky she wasn’t the kind of female to frighten easily. And that my brother Kobe doesn’t hold grudges.”

Jinx looked at Roam who seemed to understand the Zargonnii male. “I apologize for staring, but you look so unique,” she stammered with embarrassment. She had never seen such a cool-looking creature. He was so different and yet appealing at the same time.

“Maybe if I’m lucky an unmated human female will find me attractive enough to mate with,” Finn said.

“Good luck to you,” Roam said. “I hear you were on your way to Earth when you intercepted the battle. I’m certain I can speak for all of us when I say we’re grateful.”

“We’re allies. The Gorgano and rogue Tonans may have dropped back to lick their wounds for a while, still we better be on the lookout,” Finn said.

“You may want to tell your leader Earth is fading fast. He may want to try a cold continent. The warmer ones are succumbing to the oceans and seas,” Jinx said. She had witnessed it herself. The ship had flown over the Earth to pick up other warriors, before shooting high into the sky.

Finn grinned down at her. He was handsome in a beast-like way. Powerful, built. His red eyes suited him, adding to his unique looks. His long flowing white hair was sexy. His black pants hugged his hard ass and thighs, outlining a stunning cock. Roam cleared his throat and it was Jinx’s turn to go red. She felt the blush creep up her neck. But his cock really was impressive. He was going to make some human female very happy. Just the thought of imagining Finn’s huge body pressed against her made her hot.

“I will let Titus know. Thanks for the information.”

The way Finn smiled at her made Jinx blush again. He somehow knew what she was thinking. She cleared her throat a few times.

  “Safe trip,” she muttered.

Finn nodded, he clasped Roam’s arm, made a remark about how pleased Kobe would be when he found out Roam had found his own mate. Finn then chuckled until he was out of their sight.

“Let’s go find Scarlet,” Roam said.

  Chapter 11

“Are you sure she’s asleep?” Roam asked.

Jinx searched her mind and could envision their little one sound asleep in her bed, thumb in her tiny mouth in the farther room next to hers and Roam’s bedroom. Their new home was three times larger than Roam’s bachelor suite. Jinx loved the airiness of their living quarters. There was so much room, including a spare room she and Roam were hopeful about adding to.

“Scarlet is fast asleep, dreaming of the picnic you promised her. She is dying to see the mammoths and play in the snow. I can’t say I blame her. Are the Gorgano and rogue Tonans really gone? Will we be safe?” Try as she might, Jinx couldn’t keep the anxiousness from her tone.

“They both fled the galaxy, for now. They need to regroup after such a loss. The Zargonnii war ship can really kick some serious ass. I hope Finn finds what he’s looking for.”

“They’re kinda neat-looking creatures. All powerful, buff, cool red eyes. I was surprised I understood their language. They really are intelligent and kind. I think Finn would make a great mate.”

“Don’t get any ideas. You’re my mate and I’m yours and we have a young child to look after.”

  “Speaking of children…”

The pool they were in was located in their new home; Jinx learned each domicile had one. The pool was round, the size of a small deep pond, the water as blue as Roam’s eyes. It was surrounded in beautiful lush foliage. Jinx was told the waters had a healing quality about them. She didn’t know about that but, when she first jumped in, she squealed when the water washed her—vigorously. So vigorously she was void of any body hair, except her eyebrows, lashes and the hair on her head.

Roam moved in closer and when skin touched skin, Jinx could feel Roam’s essence enter her tingling flesh, invading a territory that longed to be conquered. She marveled how he could be inside of her without actually being inside of her. The taste of his lips sent shivers down her spine. She felt his need, it made her belly flip. He looked hungry for her.

With the lift of his hand, water dribbled between her breasts as he pulled her higher. Jinx wrapped her legs around his waist. The heated power between her thighs stretched her wide to accommodate his muscled width. His large hand spanned her bottom moving her closer to his desire. She felt the tip of his erection push against her. Gentle waves their movement created lapped against her arms and back. Everything was picture perfect, even their surroundings.

A small white bunny off to the side nibbled a green fern. It was a hologram. The eyes were rainbow colored. It wore a pink bow. Roam had created many to keep Scarlet entertained. He was a very doting father. Thankfully, their home was too small for the mammoths the child adored.

Scarlet missed her parents, but the bond between the child and Roam grew. Roam still maintained the connection to Scarlet; the child could feel Roam’s pull even without her father there. Jinx connected mentally with her, interpreting Scarlet’s needs almost as she felt them. It was a large aid to help the child bond. Jinx loved Scarlet. It was something she couldn’t begin to explain. The girl was cute, sweet, to anyone’s eyes, but it went beyond that. Scarlet was Jinx’s child. Roam said it was because she channeled what he felt for her—Jinx didn’t think that was all.

“We could give Scarlet a baby brother,” Jinx whispered.

She moaned when Roam thrust up inside of her. He grinned down into her startled face. She hadn’t realized she was so ready for him.

“Baby or not I love you, Jinx. I fell for you the second I saw you.” His cock sli
d out ever so slowly.

“The time you saved me from the snake. Did you purposely smear lion shit on your chest?” She moaned as he glided back in.

“I had too. No nipples would have freaked you out.” Both of his hands spanned her waist as he pulled her back.

“You could have said it was a birth defect.” Jinx buried the fingers of one hand into his thick locks.

“I can’t lie. It would make me physically ill with myself.” His lips nipped her neck.

“Can I lie?” Her teeth grazed his shoulder. “I mean I know I can, but when Jade asked me if she looked fat and I said no, a horrible taste was suddenly in mouth. She looks like a Teletubby. But I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. What I mean is, if you ask me something and I don’t want to hurt your feelings or tell you a secret, can I lie?”

“Sure, but it would be no use. I can tell immediately when you’re lying.” His gaze was intense.

“So much for any type of surprise parties.”

“I can give you a surprise.”

Roam thrust harder, then pulled out slowly. His large arms held her steady and she leaned back until her hair touched the water. Roam pumped her up and down until water from the pool sloshed over the sides. Jinx fixated on the ceiling above. Numerous colored rocks sparkled down on them, shining across the pool top, reflected on the shimmering foliage. It was identical to the cave on Earth. A cave she called home for four years.

Jinx was truly home. She was in the arms of home. Jinx could feel Roam expand. She knew each time they loved he gave a piece of his armor away. It was why Castians only came into must twice every four hundred years. With so many warriors weakened by their generosity and for the love of their unborn children, they would be vulnerable if they produced offspring too often.

Jinx worried her teeth against her lip when she wanted to scream. An engorged man was both pleasure and pain. Part of the pleasure was knowing her warrior would go not to great lengths, but to any lengths to care for her and his entire family.

Roam knew the instant she could take no more of his size without help, her groan came from deep within her. Sharp needles pierced her throat, Jinx relaxed against him. The drug his fangs carried was euphoric. It was like finishing a strong glass of wine after a long hard day, while languishing in an easy chair. Roam rocked slowly within her. He whispered such sweet words while her face buried into his neck. The strangest sensation overcame her. The mental connection between Jinx and Scarlet was strong, but Jinx gazed at Roam with surprise.

“My God,” she whispered. “I feel him. He’s in there. Roam our son is inside of me.”

Roam was as astounded as she was. “Jinx we just changed the course of the war forever.”

Jinx already knew that. The connection she was feeling was mind boggling. Another’s conscious thought whispered to her. The two minds meshed, loved. The intensity engulfed her. Jinx carried a Castian mind warrior. Their babe was to be born the greatest leader in Castian history. A child who would rule both Castian and Tonan by thought. Destroyer of the Gorgano.

“Roam?” Jinx whispered. He slipped from her but continued to hold her close.

His blue eyes were eerily glowing. “Taz and I started the chain of events leading to this by warrior mating. Our little warriors are communicating, I can hear them. My connection to Taz is almost overwhelming. The two little warriors will be unstoppable once they warrior mate. I’m guessing it will be the second their baby shields drop at four.”

“No wonder you and Taz have the ability to kill warriors on your own. Your sons will need extra protection.”

  “It’s not only that.”

“What?” Jinx was wary when he settled those glowing blue eyes onto her.

Roam grinned. “Any child born to our son or son’s family will have the same aptitude for mind battle, males, females. With you protected by the baby shield and our little warrior’s understanding, any Gorgano who comes near this planet within your view will die. The two of you will be unstoppable. The war may not be over, but we have just been given a new weapon.”

“My child isn’t a weapon,” Jinx said, feeling some distress.

  “He’s his father’s son.”

  “Which means?”

“He will protect all those he loves. From anything. Beginning with his mother. Jinx, he knows how hard you fought the Gorgano.” The glow from Roam’s eyes dimmed until it was nonexistent.

“He’s going to be a little boy before he’s a warrior,” Jinx insisted.

“Castian males are born warriors. We are born with the memories that make us strong.”

Jinx groaned. “Our little warrior just invaded Scarlet’s dream. They’re playing together and she just showed him her heart’s desire. Bloody hell, Roam. There is no way a mammoth with a blue ribbon is going to run around our home. No way.”

Both Roam and Jinx ran frustrated hands over their faces when a baby mammoth appeared not two feet from them. The blue ribbon around its neck was sparkling with glitter. The beast was grinning.

“Damn, the little monkey just figured out how to work the holograms—from inside you. Shit he’s strong willed. Cobra’s gonna freak,” Roam said. Jinx heard exasperation as well as pride in his words.

“He’s your son,” Jinx demanded. “Do something.”

Roam chuckled and kissed Jinx. “Something tells me Bagron will never be the same.”
